Mount Gunnbjørn Fjeld

Mount Gunnbjørn Fjeld is the highest mountain peak in the Arctic (3694m) located on the remote east coast of Greenland and forms part of the Watkins Range of nunataks (rocky mountains protruding from the glacial ice-cap).

Because of the huge size of Greenland, Mt Gunnbjørn Fjeld has been called the "8th Summit" (read about the 7 summits in the world here). On the east coast, where massive mountains rise from the Greenland icecap the conditions are pristine, similar to those you find in Antarctica.
